Born and raised in Bucharest, pianist Cristiana Achim studies at the Royal College of Music in London under the tutelage of Nigel Clayton. A winner of numerous international piano competitions such as the Pro Piano International Competition and the Tudor Dumitrescu International Piano Competition, she is a Talent Unlimited artist and a resident artist with the Romanian Royal House.
Cristiana has performed at Queen Elizabeth Hall, St James’s Picadilly, Drapers Hall and St Paul’s Church (Bedford). Upcoming engagements include performances at London’s Steinway Hall and the Lake District Summer Music Festival. She is often invited to play with the Royal Camerata and to give piano recitals at the Romanian Atheneum in Bucharest.
Cristiana has participated in piano masterclasses throughout Europe, most recently at the British Isles Music Festival, Malta International Music Festival, and SoNoRo Festival.
She has developed a keen interest in jazz and folk music and is well-versed in the art of improvisation. In 2019, she released three of her singles, which are based on Romanian folk tunes. Recently, she was selected to become a member of the Rezidenta21 music organisation, offering her the opportunity to explore her curiosity for contemporary and electronic music.
Her outreach work includes a long string of charity performances for hospitals, nursing homes and orphanages, as well as bringing music to those with limited access to it. Cristiana is an active volunteer for the “Ro and You” Romanian Organization, which offered her many opportunities to develop the Romanian educational system by teaching music to disadvantaged children.
