Ruth Whybrow is a freelance woodwind instrumentalist based in London. She studied flute, saxophone and clarinet at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. Alongside her performance studied, Ruth completed a dissertation on the art of ‘doubling’ on multiple woodwind instruments.
Highlights of Ruth’s career to date include ‘Cats’ International tour, ‘Spamalot’ South Korea/UK tour, Panto (Qdos 2019, Aberdeen and Imagine Theatre 2016-2018, Reading) and playing on the studio cast recording of ‘The Clockmaker’s Daughter’. Ruth also hugely enjoyed touring the UK with the chamber opera ‘Ulla’s Odyssey’ from 2015-2017 where she led pre-show workshops alongside one of the actors, helping to make the show more accessible to a young audience, thus making a rewarding performance experience.
As well as performing in our orchestras (wherever the work takes her!), Ruth enjoys teaching woodwind instruments and playing in other music ensembles when opportunities present themselves.
