Ellie Dorman has been a sound engineer for the last 15 years working with music, theatre and dance.
She won a scholarship to Aylesbury Music Centre in 1993. In 2000, gained a place at Trinity Music College studying French Horn and piano. Developing an interest in Music tech she transferred to City University to complete a music degree specialising in sound.
In 2004 she started working as a sound engineer for the London Breakbeat Orchestra and small London venues. In 2005 she took the position of Head Sound at ‘The Fly’ on New Oxford Street.
In 2007 Ellie started a busy touring schedule and by 2010 had started working with the band ‘King Krule’. Ellie cut back on touring work and started at bigger venues such as Heaven Nightclub and the ICA. In 2018, I developed and delivered a live sound course at Community Music.
These changes meant that Ellie had time to produce her debut album “Twelve” (2017) and 3 EP’s. This album was nominated best Concept Album (2018 IMA).
In 2019, Ellie accompanied Susheela Raman to Indonesia to rehearse before headlining Melbourne Arts Festival. For this project, she made microphones for the gongs. This same year Ellie won the Women In Live Music award for best FOH engineer.
