Hello. I make all types of sounds for theatre, dance, and the concert stage. I use acoustic/electronic techniques and notated/improvised forms to explore the relationship between sound and my queer/Mexican identities.
My music has been performed in the US, UK, and Ghana. I have worked as a sound designer for Wide Eyed Theatre – NYC, Accra Theatre Workshop, RadioTheatre, and Poetic Theatre Productions. In 2015 I was the assistant sound designer at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival for Lynn Nottage’s world premier of SWEAT. This show later went on to Broadway in 2017. In 2018 my piano duet “an incomplete autobiography” was runner up in the Anderson & Roe New Music New Video composition competition.
I am currently a PhD student at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. My research focuses on how the identities in race, gender, and disability of Latinx composers may or may not inform their compositional practice. I have presented my research at ICMC 2019, Shared Narratives 2021, and will present at the LGBTA+ Symposium in Vienna 2022. My primary supervisor is Dr Doolittle with Dr Hopfinger, Dr Bhachu, and Dr Knotts co-supervising.
