I’m a producer/DJ, songwriter, podcast and radio curator plus visual and independent artist.

I have been a full time DJ for a decade as ‘Karistocat’ and producing for 3 years, and song writing since I was a child. As a teenager, I played in punk bands and experimented with building guitar pedals and sonics created through analogue equipment.

Over the decade my DJing career has taken me to the Middle East, Africa and mainland Europe. My festival credits include Reading&Leeds, Standon Calling, Leopallooza, Wilderness, Wireless and Bestival. I have spun for Kate Moss and Beyonce, with residencies at the underground nights, sharing line-ups with artists such as Luck & Neat, Artful Dodger, Skepta, Goldie, Groove Armada, Modeselektor and Roy Davis Jr. I’m also a founding member of the female empowerment and LGBTQ+ night Girl Power. I have played at Ministry of Sound, The Cause, Fire and Bussey Building. In 2016 I toured with Nick Grimshaw of Radio1 for NME and Topshop. In 2018, I DJ’ed at Twickenham stadium to 48k people during English rugby and for Sidemen for the KSIvsJoe Weller (25MM views), and KSIvsLogan Paul (110MM views) fights. In 2018/19, I would go onto spin at Wembley Arena four times for Big Gig for 24k Girl Guides.

Since 2019, my main focus is to create a new genre merging drum and bass and techno, and taking inspiration from PlayStation games, punk, analogue tapes and shoegaze and to experiment with visual art and sound. I want to encourage representation within electronic music. I have been experimenting within 140-150bpm and have gained mentorship with Dutch artist Martyn (Martijn Deijkers).

My expertise was acquired for the Drowned City documentary, and for BBC Radio6 for their Jungle and DnB day with Mary-Anne Hobbs.

In Nov-2020 my first EP was released on The One (I also helped set up the label), with radio play on Subtle, Soho, RinseFM and HÖR Berlin. My track Babalon was remixed by DnB pioneer Blame and then spun on BBCRadio1 opening the Drum and Bass show with reviews from DnB artist MEL “Love the EP!! Karistocat offers something refreshing and exciting to the D&B world!”.

I have recently collaborated with singer Tasty Lopez whose track was Annie Mac’s hottest record, and I’m currently in discussions for releases with techno labels such as Kneaded Pains and Nechto.

I curate a podcast called Kulture discussing London working class creatives, plus radio shows on Soho Radio, Data Transmission and on Bloop for forward thinking electronica, techno and D&B. I curated a special International Women’s day show on Soho Radio with EQ50’s organisation including female D&B pioneers (BBC1Xtra’s Flight, Mantra who runs both the label and event called Rupture) discussing women and non-binary people and the gender imbalance within in D&B and electronic music. Press includes; Sony’s Ram Records for livestreams and a featured interview, US blog Bass Movement and Plymouth College of Art about my production techniques. I have 4736 instagram, 1574 twitter and 1018 Facebook followers (@Karistocat).
