Katja Macabre

I have been performing as a professional metal vocalist, under the name Katja Macabre for several years and started my career singing covers on YouTube.

Using a mix of clean and distorted vocals, I have released 5 singles & 1 EP, as well as being a featured artist on multiple releases.

In 2019 I founded the Metal-Goes-Vintage vocal company, Dead Dolls.

I occasionally dep for the psychedelic-rock band, Demure.

Solo Artist project:

Katja Macabre (Catch-a Ma-carb). Bisexual Bitch-Rock solo artist from London, living in Brighton, who makes angry feminist metal for girls, gays and theys. Combining elements of punk, rock, rap and metal to create my signature distorted “angry girl” sound.

I have been writing and performing her own songs for many years and released her debut EP in November 2020. She has since taken some time away and returned to the fem-rock music scene with a new sound.

My music is for those who don’t feel like they have their own voice, to speak out for the ones who feel alone and to inspire people in difficult situations to rise up and take control of who they are, drawing inspiration from many artists including Skunk Anansie, Delilah Bon, Wargasm, Cassyette and Nova Twins.

Alyx Holcombe (Kerrang & BBC Radio 1) describes my music as “a powerful message that feels like it’s smacking you in the face in the most enjoyable way possible”.
My previous singles, Mother of God (2023), and Compliments (2022),have been described to excel at challenging the patriarchy and social norms, whilst empowering women and members of the LGBTQ+ community all over the world.

Teaching:

I have been teaching vocals as a private vocal coach since 2019.

Starting with one student every week, I now teach multiple students across the UK via Skype, specialising in Metal, Rock, Pop, Jazz and Musical Theatre. I have trained for many years as a vocalist, both in education, graduating BIMM Brighton with a 1st class BA (Hons), and privately – including Rock School grading with Sophie Stott and ABRSM with Elly Barnes MBE FCCT (Educate & Celebrate).
