Maya Caskie

Maya Caskie is a songwriter by night, and a ballet pianist by day. She writes folk-classical songs that are filled with whimsy, humour and child-like wonder – from balladic retellings of Victor Hugo novels to ghost stories to be shared around a campfire. She borrows colours from the worlds of Ichiko Aoba, Punch Brothers, Laura Marling etc.

In 2020, Maya published her first illustrated children’s book of piano pieces, “Maya’s Mountain” 「まやの山」, in association with Arts’ Council England. In 2023, she composed and recorded a string ensemble score for an original one-act children’s ballet, “Katie in London”. She has performed her original music across prestigious London venues (Vortex Jazz Club, Pizza Express Jazz Club, Green Note) with her all-singing, all-playing, all-women ensemble Caskie Trio.
