Modema

Emily is a composer, producer and performer based in Manchester, UK. She is a vocalist and multi-instrumentalist (keyboards, synthesiser, brass and wind instruments) who is confident working with both live and virtual instruments. She writes in a variety of styles, from pop, electronica and ambient music to cinematic virtual orchestration. She is adept at composing and creating sound design for visual media such as film, TV and game. Furthermore, she is fluent in Ableton Live and Logic Pro and has a variety of hardware and software audio equipment at her disposal. As of 2022, Emily has been performing as a solo artist under the moniker Modema, crafting left-field synth-pop with hints of club textures. Her debut single ‘Running Back’ was well received by Clash magazine, who referred to the track as “a pirouetting piece of synth-pop abstraction” which “sweeps you up in its percussive rush”. The track also received radio play from BBC Radio 6 music on their New Music Fix daily show. In addition to her solo project, she has worked as a touring keyboard and synth player for The Orielles (Heavenly Recordings) and is an active creative collaborator with a number of contemporary electronic artists including Tom Sharkett (Optimo Music) and Tom Carruthers (L.I.E.S. Records).
