My Mate Dave

My Mate Dave are a female fronted band consisting of 3 women and one man playing banjo, fiddle, uke and flute with 4 voices in harmony. Our music is mostly self-written and we draw influences from bluegrass, gypsy folk, and ska.   Have a listen to our SoundCloud here

Fairly new on the circuit in this line-up, but we’ve all been playing for some years in various musical incarnations.  We have already amassed an impressive gig history, including supporting Tankus the Henge at their sell out Wycombe arts centre gig in 2019, and being a part of The Gloucester Folk trail. We also provided live performances for a paid busk on London’s South Bank before lockdown put paid to live performances. During lockdown we used the time to hone and polish our sound, write music and be together as often as possible.    Have a look at our YouTube channel here

This year we’ve played a few dates so far, including the ‘Where Art The Women?’ launch in Stroud, supporting Muddy Summers & The DFWs and Zion Train,  and we have a great selection of gigs and festival dates booked for the coming months, including the Green Gathering Soundscape stage, Something Else by the Sea,  Lakefest and Bearded Theory among others. We have many plans for the next few years including recording our first album.

Our sound is an interesting mix of original music with a few reworks and acapella versions of lesser known songs written by others.

My Mate Dave are looking forward to spreading their wings in 2022.
