Natasha Humphries

British violinist Natasha Humphries is currently in her third year at the Royal College of Music in London, studying with Professor Radu Blidar.

Natasha made her concerto debut performing Bruch’s Violin Concerto at All Saints Church High Wycombe in 2017. She has since performed solo recitals in UK venues, as well as performances in Austria, Germany and Czech Republic.

Also a passionate chamber musician, Natasha is a member of the Morassi Quartet, which formed at the RCM in 2018. Recent highlights include a performance of Bartók’s virtuosic String Quartet No.5 and being selected to perform at the internationally celebrated RCM festival Super String Sunday which was broadcast worldwide. With the quartet, Natasha has received chamber coaching from renowned musicians such as Yuri Zhislin and Gabrielle Lester. Upcoming engagements with the quartet include a series of FeverUp Candlelight Concerts at Saint Mary Magdalene Church Paddington and Southwark Cathedral in London.

As a previous member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, Natasha has performed several times at the BBC Proms and at the Berlioz Festival in France. In 2019, she went on tour for a month with the Britten Shostakovich Festival Orchestra, sitting Sub-Principal No.3 First Violin and performing in many prestigious concert halls around Russia and the UK, including St. Petersburg Philharmonia, Moscow Tchaikovsky Concert Hall and Birmingham Symphony Hall. As an orchestral player, Natasha has worked with many celebrated conductors including Sir Mark Elder, Martyn Brabbins and John Wilson.

Natasha frequently takes part in festivals. She has recently been selected to perform at the Chipping Campden International Music Festival in September 2021. At the festival, she will have the opportunity to rehearse and perform side-by-side with specialists in the orchestral field, and work with world-class artists Steven Isserlis, Richard Goode and Ruth Rogers. Natasha is also an experienced session musician, having worked on recording sessions for many UK session fixers.

In addition to standard classical repertoire, Natasha has developed a keen interest in exploring other genres of music on the violin, including American bluegrass and folk music and the tangos of Piazzolla. She has previously performed with the Capital Orchestra, an up-and-coming pop/jazz orchestra.

Natasha plays on a 1973 violin by Giovanni Batista Morassi, kindly loaned by her grandfather.
