Rivkala

Rivkala is an emerging Newcastle-based neo-soul artist, songwriter, singer and pianist, and an alumni of Generator NE’s First Notes programme, funded by Youth Music. Rivkala writes all her music alone, but with her name in Hebrew meaning ‘to connect’, she has relished becoming a bandleader and collaborating on her song’s arrangements with talented local musicians. Raised on a diet of jazz, funk, disco, psych rock and soul, her writing is flavoured with their influence, characterised by catchy melodic hooks and socially poignant lyrics. Rivkala has been booked as both a solo act and with her band at esteemed venues around the North East, including Hoochie Coochie, The Cluny, The Cumberland Arms, Bobiks and performed at Northern Pride 2023, all before her debut single release expected later in 2023.
