See Emily Play

Sheffield-born singer-songwriter See Emily Play’s artfully-constructed pop songs draw inspiration from indie, alt-country, and chamber-pop. Her lyrics explore mental health and unconventional romances with a self-effacing humour and complex feminism. Glenn Gregory of Heaven 17 describes the multi-instrumentalist as a “Kate Bush in Waiting”.
Emily is a seasoned performer, having shared a stage with The 1975 and Catfish and the Bottlemen, as well as providing vocals for I Monster’s Jarrod Gosling’s Regal Worm, Little Man Tate’s Jon Windle and Liverpool artist Drew Friel. The Guardian has described her “extraordinary” performances that “demand attention”. Her unique vocals have graced the airwaves of BBC 6Music, Amazing Radio, and BBC Radio Sheffield.
Now based in Liverpool, Emily has recently collaborated with producer Rob Whiteley (BC Camplight, The Wombats) on her third EP, Still Playing. The results brim with Ireland’s hallmark rich melodies, but stylistically owe much to 80s New Wave and 90s Nashville. Her next single, ‘YOKO ONO WAS SEVEN YEARS OLDER THAN JOHN’ will be released on 5th August 2024.
