“I like that a lot” – Steve Wright, BBC Radio 2
“Glistening pop music with delightful harmonies” – Jim Gellatly, Amazing Radio
“Future Gold…like that one a lot” – Tony Blackburn, BBC Radio
“The simple fact is that The Eves are a mainstream act that, as yet, are still on the margins” – Teddy Jamieson, The Herald
Scottish pop duo ‘The Eves’ are Caroline Gilmour and Marissa Keltie. Previously solo artists, their explosion onto the music scene as a combined force in 2018 has established them as one of the UK’s most promising and exciting song-writing duos.
2021 has been the duo’s most successful year to date. Current single ‘Not A Love Song’ is racking up airplay on over 70 regional and online radio stations in the UK and overseas.
In September, the single ‘Legal High’, made it onto over 100 regional radio stations and playlists across the UK. It was also snapped up by Sky Sports to feature on their football programming.
Prior to this, the single ‘Brand New Day’, released in April this year, made it onto several BBC Radio 2 shows. After starting out as ‘New to 2” on Ken Bruce, the track made it onto the C list, then moved up to the B list, racking up numerous plays by OJ Borg, The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show, Claudia Winkelman, Steve Wright, Ken Bruce, Michael Ball, Vanessa Feltz, Rylan on Saturday, Johnnie & Tiggy Walker and Tony Blackburn.
The track was also made ‘Single of the Week’ on BBC Radio Scotland, hit No. 6 and No. 15 in the iTunes pop charts and iTunes main download chart respectively, charted in the Amazon ‘New Hot Releases’ UK Chart, and made an impressive debut in the UK Official Charts Company download and single charts in the top 75. The icing on the cake was a placing on official Spotify editorial playlist ‘New Pop UK’ for several weeks.
A deal with top UK Sync agency A&G Songs swiftly followed, in addition to co-writes with writers and producers Jim Duguid (Paolo Nutini) and Steve Chrisanthou (Corinne Bailey Rae, Will Young, Gabrielle, Paloma Faith). This is no mean feat for an unsigned and self-funded act, who released their debut single ‘Tides’ in 2018 to hugely positive reviews, establishing them as an act to follow.
Prior to the Pandemic, 2019 was a hugely successful year for live performances, with appearances at TRNSMT, Country to Country, King Tuts, opening for The Shires, and BBC Regional and National radio airplay for three of their singles – the heartfelt ‘Christmas in Summertime’, anthemic ‘City of Stars’, and a cover of Bronski Beat’s ‘Smalltown Boy’. The pair also made their debut on TV with an interview on BBC Scotland’s entertainment show ‘The Edit’ in the run up to TRNSMT.
2020 was productive despite the challenges presented by Covid. Working remotely with producer Lewis Gardiner (Nick Jonas, Ellie Goulding, Pharrell Williams), the duo created a new portfolio of work, releasing single ‘Love Will Find You’ in August that year. A collaboration and co-write with US-based singer-songwriter Wrng Haus followed shortly afterwards on the single ‘Closer to You’.
Select online performances in 2020 included being invited by Levi’s to perform across their socials to 26 million followers for their 5:01 Live ‘Stay Home, Stay Connected’ campaign, as well as a live set for Amazing Radio and drinks company Bodega Bay.
As a solo artist, Caroline achieved a UK No.1 with her self-released EP ‘Electric Waterfalls’ in 2016. It made the top spot in the UK Official Charts Company Vinyl Singles Chart on Record Store Day that year. It also reached No.2 in the Physical Singles Chart. She is also co-presenter of new music podcast The CAKE Show with Hampden stadium DJ Keith Easton.
As well as being a songwriter and performer, Marissa is an established voiceover artist and commercial model. Her voiceover clients include Universal Music Group, critically acclaimed commercial director Ruben Latre, Johnnie Walker Whisky and The Scottish Government. Working for the world-renowned Model Team agency, she has appeared in many campaigns for clients including British Airways, Scottish Opera, Heineken and Natwest.
In the charity sector, Caroline is Patron of the 6VT Edinburgh City Youth Cafe – a charity specialising in providing support to young people from all walks of life. Marissa also assists the charity with running music workshops. The duo also set up and run the U.K side of dog rescue organisation Pico’s Pack – which raises awareness and funds to care for abandoned and abused dogs in Serbia. www.picospack.org
